Every breath is a pulse of energy, touching on others with warmth and light; every breath is a little more life. Each step in our hectic patterns of revolution about each other a careful balance, sustaining each other, clutching each other close with desperate gravity. There is joy in the motion, but none beyond this starburst galaxy.
Monsters still lurk in places where you can’t scream. Black holes inhale, tear into flesh and bone, and blood dribbles into the dust. Houston cannot help now, not millions of miles from home in the blind, with the event horizon imminent. Down, the gravity of the situation immediate and immense and pressing harder, stronger, tendrils of blackness reaching to hold, smother. Snuff out the nova within, the luminosity and brilliance. It’s the only way it can keep me.
But there’s so much more beyond the vacuum, beyond the dark and back in the galaxy. More than the empty promises and broken dreams. More
